While at The Battle Protocol I was handed this flyer about an upcoming gig. The title is, in all caps mind you, HEY! THAT’S NOT YOUR BASS!. What caught my attention at first was the lineup on the flyer, there is a lot of top acts. Then I read what the gig is all about.
This is what was written on the piece of paper: -
Scum who don’t give a carp stole RM12k worth of music gear from Hiro while he was waiting for a cab after a show. This is what we’re doing to help. Join us.
Apparently the gig is a fundraiser for Hiroaki Maekawa a talented bassist, a hardworking band leader, a full-time musician. His band, Tokyo Blue is this jazzy but yet not too jazzy band. A little bit funky at times.
Now for a full time musician, music instruments are their livelihood. Stealing a music instrument from a musician is like stealing a boat from a fisherman. Not cool, not cool at all. So maybe with this fundraiser gig will somehow help Hiro out.
